Gor Mahia Lands safely, Minnaert determined to disappoint Kogalo

Gor Mahia safely landed in Kigali,Rwanda on Saturday ahead of the much anticipated clash against local giants Rayon Sports in a Group D opener of the CAF Confederation Cup come Sunday at Kigali Regional Stadium in Nyamirambo.
The match kicks off at 7pm Kenyan time and will be live on beIn Sports, Supersport 4, Tanzania and Rwanda’s national broadcasters.
Rayon Sports Coach Ivan Minneart is optimistic his boys can continue rewriting history by beating Gor Mahia and making it to the quarter-finals of the CAF Confederations Cup. Just like Gor Mahia, Rayon Sport were relegated to the competition after elimination in the CaF Champions League.
“I have no fear for Gor Mahia. The chase for the ticket to quarter-finals starts Sunday, and we can’t afford a false start. Like in all our home games, we are going to do everything possible to get a win,” Minneart told Rwanda's The New Times.
“The target is to win as many games as possible. All the three home games are a must-win, then we fight hard for away points.” He added.
During his time as AFC Leopards coach, Minneart beat Gor Mahia 1-0 in a Mashemeji derby and went on to bag the Coach of the Month award, a first for an AFC Leopards foreign coach.
Rayon Sports welcomes back midfielder Pierrot Kwizera and forward Caleb Bimenyimana, who missed the return-leg against Mozambique’s Costa do Sol in the play-off round.
Gor Mahia on the other hand have no squad worries. The team boasts of Rwanda internationals Jacques Tuyisenge and Meddie Kagere in their line-up.
Before departure, a confident Coach Dylan Kerr said, “We trained well after the derby. We sharpened a few areas of concern arising from our previous matches and we are ready for the next challenge”
Egyptian referee Amin Mohamed Omar will be in charge of the game between Rayon Sports and Gor Mahia.
